Trull Rectory

November 2018 – Inspired Partnership have recently overseen internal alteration works at The Rectory in Trull, to open up the kitchen and dining room to form an open plan area. This project was completed within a 7 day period whilst the clients were away on holiday. October 2018 – Castle School’s new DT Building is now under construction by CG Fry & Son and we are finding that our method of working in 3D is ensuring a smooth process on site.

Fivehead

September 2018 – The new dwelling at Fivehead is on site and progressing well with the weather on our side. The foundations and substructure blockwork are constructed and the beam and block floor is in place. This building has some large spans and the incidental steels and wind posts are now being lifted into place; ready for the construction of the superstructure. This is an exciting time for our client, who can finally see their building take shape.

CPD Update

August 2018 – Justin Dover MRICS, Director and Chartered Surveyor, together with our Health & Safety Consultant Mark Gent AaPS have successfully updated their personal awareness to specific construction hazards by each obtaining Certificates of Asbestos Awareness. Training was provided by the G&L Consultancy based in Wellington, where tailored training provided detail of Asbestos and its Health Effects, relevant Legislation, ACM’s, Emergency Procedures and mechanisms for Avoiding the Risks of Asbestos. July 2018 – We were joined in the office for a week by a year 10 student from Huish Academy in Langport, for their Work Experience placement. With an interest in the architectural side of construction, our student came on board for a week to shadow and assist us; primarily working on ArchiCAD, but also attending site meetings to gain an insight into the various sides of the industry. May 2018 – Our Health and Safety Consultant, Mark Gent, has successfully completed the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, which is established as a leading health and safety award for the construction industry. The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate covers the main legal requirements relating to health and safety in UK construction work, identification and control of construction workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge.

April 2018 – Following the Government’s announcement of the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) 2018-19 outcome, we are pleased that two of the local schools that we worked with for the bid have been successful and we will be working with Futures for Somerset towards the realisation of a new Dining Facility at The Castle School and the refurbishment of the Music and Drama block at Court Fields School. Many schools are now preparing for the next bidding round of CIF Applications due later this year. March 2018 – We are delighted to be working with Fiveways School again to help them improve the facilities at this specialist school for children with severe disabilities. Refurbishment of the existing kitchen space and the formation of a glazed corridor across the courtyard will improve the quality for support staff to deliver school meals and will improve the quality and security of the environment for children manoeuvring around the school. We are project managing this project within a very tight timescale over the Easter break to minimise disruption to the children.

February 2018 – We are appointed by the Castle School Academy and Futures for Somerset to deliver their successful CIF bid project for a new £1.5 million two-storey Design and Technology Building. Now novated under a Design and Build Contract, the technical design is underway and our use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) will enable the team to work collaboratively, for us to integrate consultants’ designs into our working model, carry out clash detection of services and structure, and, ensure that details are fully resolved before commencing on site.

January 2018 – Adapting your home to provide care for a dependent can seem daunting, however, we can help you, often alongside an occupational therapist, to step through the process of providing space that is tailored to an individual’s needs. December 2017 – Blundell’s School has appointed us to assist them with the provision of new Design Technology teaching space, the removal of asbestos north light roofing and installation of a new metal profiled roof. The new roof and teaching space will improve the thermal performance of this building and improve the quality of teaching accommodation for students at this thriving school. Planning is due to be submitted early 2018 with works commencing on site during the 2018 summer holiday break.

2018-19 Condition Improvement Fund

November 2017 – CIF is an annual bidding round to which some academies and sixth-form colleges can apply for capital funding. We have been successfully appointed to work with a number of Somerset Schools this year to seek capital funding to address significant condition need, address health and safety issues, building compliance and poor building condition. Submission deadline is early December and our experience with successful capital funding bids demonstrates that we are well placed to assist schools and their strategic partners to develop a professional application and satisfy the criteria leading to funding approval.

Blundell's School

October 2017 – We have successfully achieved Full Planning permission for the proposed new medical centre at Blundell’s School, which will allow the school to commence the works on site within the next few weeks. During the planning process we progressed the Building Regulations application and completed the tender process and a main contractor is now gearing up for a start on site. The challenge now is to project manage the build through the winter on a tight timescale. Maintaining good communication and relationships with the school and the Principal Contractor will be key to the successful delivery of this project.

Health and Safety

September 2017 – Our health and safety advisor, Mark Gent, is currently managing a number of education (academies and private schools) and leisure projects advising clients on all aspects of the CDM(2015) Construction, Design and Management Regulations and providing support on all construction based Health and Safety issues through the duration of the pre-construction and construction stages. Mark is in demand for projects located across the south-west in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, with projects further afield in Wales and Scotland. We provide a dedicated and tailored service to meet client needs.

August 2017 – We were instructed by Blundell’s School, Tiverton, to carry out a condition survey and project manage the repairs and replacement of failing wet cast stone gutters to the Big School. Their state of decay required an urgent response to rectify cracking and instability. The work involved resin injection repairs, a new gutter lining system and cosmetic re-facing. The structural repair works were critical in terms of safety and have successfully completed on time and below budget before children return for the autumn term. Our chartered surveyor, technical and project management team provide an efficient and co-ordinated service to our clients.

July 2017 – Fiveways School in Yeovil held an official opening ceremony for their £500k refurbishment project to improve the school’s entrance, develop small group teaching spaces and increase the size of its main hall. Our involvement with this project helped to transform this wonderful school and the opening was a celebration attended by Sean Gaffney, Invictus Athlete, with a Town Crier, ice-cream van, bubble machines and horse and carriage to the delight of all of the students. We wish the school every success in the future and look forward to assisting the school with future projects.

June 2017 – We have been appointed by Futures for Somerset to carry out a condition survey of failing roofs at Heathfield Community School, Taunton. A drone survey, intrusive survey with core samples and condition report will provide the essential information to define the schedule of works and construction detailing and specifications for the much needed replacement roofing of their Humanities Block. Our chartered surveyor and technical teams provide schools with the correct level of professional service for their condition projects.

May 2017 – We have been appointed by Futures for Somerset to carry out roof condition surveys and prepare the technical designs and schedules of works for tenders for significant re-roofing projects and structural repairs for a number of Academies across Somerset including Bridgwater College Academy, West Somerset College Academy, Brymore Academy, Hamp Academy and Manor Court Primary School in Chard. Our in-house team of chartered surveyors, architects, quantity surveyors and project managers ensures a co-ordinated approach and efficient service for condition repairs for schools.

Blundell’s School

April 2017 – Blundell’s School have appointed us to deliver a new £500k medical centre on their school campus to replace their existing dated facilities. The new single storey building will provide bedrooms, consultation and treatment rooms, reception and staff facilities in an area that is easily accessible from the school’s main car park and from all parts of the school campus. The design is restricted by a very tight budget and short timescale and our Chartered Architect and Project Manager are working hard with the school to design within these parameters to achieve an efficient cost per square meter and deliver the maximum floor area within the budget without unnecessary embellishment.

March 2017 – We have been appointed by the Castle School Academy and Futures for Somerset to deliver their successful CIF bid project for a new £1.5 million two-storey Design and Technology Building with internal refurbishment of their existing areas to science laboratories. The new building will replace existing outdated facilities, be located on a restricted site and will relate to its immediate context in terms of positioning, scale and massing. The feasibility process is underway and the building is expected to be realised under a Design and Build procurement route.

February 2017 – We have assisted Blundell’s School with promotional images to attract funding for new buildings and improvements on their busy school site. Our software capabilities allow us to work quickly from a client’s vision and our initial sketches to generate rendered images with enhanced backgrounds and the application of a variety of texture, lighting and shading to suit project needs and publication preferences. January 2017 – Successful completion of the new ‘Space to Learn’ extension at this specialist school for children with severe learning difficulties. The school are delighted with their new facilities and with the team’s patience and understanding in a live special school environment "…attention to detail and safeguarding has been outstanding…". Built on time and within budget to provide new entrance, admin, teaching and sensory spaces – value £675k.

Ludos Italian Restaurant, Butlins

January 2017 – The New Ludos Italian Restaurant at the Butlins Holiday Resort in Minehead is currently on site due for completion March 2017. Project value £800K.The project consists of the complete strip at and rebuild of the Front of House area with a new front entrance for the restaurant area and a separate Take Away facility, plus alterations to the existing kitchen to meet with the requirements of the new menu. This project is developing an exciting new restaurant brand for Butlins.

December 2016 – The Firehouse Restaurant extension has successfully completed on site; delivered on budget and on time within a tight timescale of five weeks, from commencement to completion, to provide 44 additional covers for this busy restaurant venue. Statutory consents, cost control and project management services were all delivered by Inspired Partnership Ltd with construction works undertaken by PLR Construction Ltd.

November 2016 – The dining room extension at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College has completed on time and within budget. This extension gives the school additional dining space to prevent overcrowding and assist with the extra servery space required to offer a variety of food options to their pupils.

October 2016 – We are working with our client, buildings archaeologist and conservation officer towards the restoration and conversion of a dilapidated curtilage listed linhay to ancillary domestic use. A thorough understanding of the values and significance of the heritage asset will enable an acceptable heritage led solution to be found.

September 2016 - A condition survey of all of the roofs at this large Academy site has been successfully carried out at relatively short notice and with the additional use of a specialist drone survey. Drones are invaluable aids where roofs are not quickly and safely accessible and prove cost and time effective reducing the need to plan for more specialist safe access equipment.

August 2016 - We have been asked to carry out condition surveys and schedules of work for a comprehensive ceiling and lighting replacement programme and phased asbestos removal works for Bridgwater College. Our work was carried out within a short timescale and to meet specific deadlines.

Master Plan Exercises for Academy Sites

May 2016 - We have been engaged to complete five site specific masterplans for schools across Somerset in order to help ensure that the schools are well placed to efficiently manage their estates and to bid for capital funds to assist with ongoing maintenance and the delivery of strategic objectives for their school. All schools will be able to prepare robust bids using the outcome of this exercise in time for the 2017-18 CIF funding round that is due to open in October.

April 2016 - The new teaching block has successfully completed on site within budget. The new building provides the school with additional classrooms and flexible dining space. The compact and efficient design proved good value for money whilst providing an exciting, modern building for the school.

Holiday Resort - Skegness

Providing enhancement to exiting residential accommodation, on a holiday resort in Skegness, this first phase of new balconies, patios, internalised staircases has been completed in combination with internal refurbishment and re-theming. Phase 1 pictured was successfully completed by Principal Contractor ORIENT ROSE during the early months of 2015.

Phase 2 is currently programmed to commence early in 2016.
