Julia is a Chartered Architect (ARB) and a Corporate Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) with 25 years of experience in the education sector both for public and private schools for the realisation of projects including new schools, sixth form centres, whole school alterations and re-organisation, science and technology, vocational studies, sports facilities, libraries, dining/kitchen, music and performance spaces. Julia commenced her career in London working for large commercial practices on education and commercial projects and relocated to Somerset in 1998 working on school projects across the South West. Local Authority and Government funding experience was gained at Somerset County Council where Julia worked closely with Education department colleagues and was promoted to Section Head of the Major Projects Team delivering new schools, extensions and refurbishments and leading a team of architects, technicians and clerk of works.

Julia joined Inspired Partnership in 2016 to offer professional architectural services and is now leading all of their education projects. Her established experience in education assists schools and academies to successfully gain Government funding and deliver projects within tight timescales, to exacting standards and within limited budgets with the emphasis on value for money and sustainable design.

Julia formalised a passion for historic buildings by completing a Masters qualification in Architectural Conservation at Plymouth University in 2013, gaining a distinction. She reinforced this qualification by working with a leading south west architectural conservation practice on pure conservation, the sensitive repair of historic structures, the alteration/extension of listed buildings, and, the conversion and re-use of historic buildings before joining IPL in 2016. Julia is a member of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).
