We are pleased to share that we have recently been appointed by one of our valued clients to undertake Fire Risk Inspections at local school premises. This vital work forms part of our commitment to ensuring safe and compliant environments for staff, students, and visitors alike.
The purpose of our inspection was to prepare a comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment for each of the sites, and to identify and schedule all necessary remedial works to improve fire safety across the premises. As part of this process, our experienced survey team conducted a thorough review of each school’s facilities, systems, and extant safety practices.
During our inspections, we have identified several key recurrent housekeeping issues which, if left unaddressed, could pose increased risk of fire. These included:
- The use of multi-block extension cables often overloaded and used inappropriately.
- Toasters and other radiant bar heating appliances of domestic nature located in close proximity to combustible materials often concealed from view,
- Modifications, or changes to the layout of premises formed over a period of decades, that had not been adequately considered, in terms of their fire safety impact.
While these are not uncommon issues in busy environments like schools, identifying and addressing them is crucial in maintaining a high standard of safety. We have provided our client with clear, practical recommendations, and schedules laying out all necessary works, to ensure the premises meets all current fire safety regulations and best practice.
We are proud to play our part in helping schools provide a safe environment for learning and development. Our team remains committed to working closely with our clients to deliver effective, sensible fire safety solutions that not only meet statutory requirements but also support long-term risk management and peace of mind.
